Just Because It's Pretty
In my photography class, we have been learning how to take Good pictures. Artful pictures. Pictures that make a Statement. Pictures that are About Something. I've enjoyed the challenge, and it has been a challenge, raising the bar for what I expect of myself and expanding the range I allow myself. But sometimes, it's nice to take a picture of something just because it's pretty. And as hard as we all might try to be artful and substantive, there is nothing more beautiful than the natural world. Red berries peeking through the snow. A fragile shoot coming through the sodden spring earth. The sun setting over the broad expanse of the Mighty Columbia. I hope we don't forget to take pictures, just because they are pretty.
