Fallen Leaf Lake

I have a new favorite trail in Camas. You have to cut across a gated baseball park to find the unmarked trailhead, choose another unmarked side trail that heads down a steep embankment, then descend into a wetland where the trail is made traversable by a path of old wooden pallets (the work of city labor? or an enterprising hiker?). The trail ascends again, and follows the boundaries of Fallen Leaf Lake. I didn't see another person the whole time I hiked, on a beautiful, clear spring morning. An early fog had just lifted, and sunlight penetrated the tree canopy in golden streaks.

How many little towns have natural trails right through the middle of them? This is a map at the city's web site: http://www.ci.camas.wa.us/parks/parktrail.htm
